Optimize the battery life of your Ambra Italia e-bike
29 May 2024

In the world of e-bikes, the battery is a vital component that directly affects the performance and longevity of your vehicle. Ambra Italia, always attentive to the quality and safety of its products, offers some fundamental advice to maximize the useful life of your e-bike battery.

First: the correct use of the battery

It is essential to avoid stressful conditions such as use on extremely uneven terrain or exposure to excessively high temperatures, both of which can cause internal damage to the battery and increase the risk of malfunction. Remember to always turn off the main battery switch every time you finish a journey, in order to avoid unnecessary consumption (even if small) due to the absorption of the auxiliary circuits.

The recharge

Charging the battery plays a crucial role in its maintenance. It is advisable to carry it out in dry environments and at room temperature, avoiding closed and unventilated spaces. Furthermore, it is essential not to leave the battery connected to the charger for too long beyond what is necessary for a full charge, to prevent harmful overcharging.

Conservation

Proper storage when the battery is not in use is equally important. Storing it in a dry place and at a moderate temperature (between 8 and 25°C) helps preserve its integrity and charging capacity over time. It is also advisable to keep the battery partially charged (between 50% and 75% maximum) during long periods of inactivity to preserve its health and prolong its life. This level of charge prevents deep discharge, which can damage batteries and reduce their ability to hold a charge over time. By maintaining the charge in this optimal range, the stress on the internal components of the battery is also reduced, thus helping to maintain efficiency and slow down the natural aging process of the battery.

The cleaning

Regular cleaning of the battery contacts, using specific products and avoiding direct water, guarantees an optimal connection and reduces the risk of oxidation.

Winter use

In the case of winter temperatures, it is recommended to insert the battery into the e-bike shortly before use, starting from a charging condition carried out at room temperature, to guarantee its maximum autonomy.

Transportation and storage

Finally, the transport and storage of the battery requires specific attention: it is important to remove it from the e-bike to transport it safely and make sure that the storage place is located away from heat sources or flammable materials.
